$1 Million Powerball Ticket Sold In FL; New Jackpot Tops $1B

Though nobody won the billion-dollar Powerball jackpot, one ticket holder in Florida is $1 million richer after Monday night's drawing. A $1 million Powerball ticket was sold at Sedano's Supermarket in Orlando, Florida. Five other $1-million winners were also sold, including two in Maryland and single tickets in Minnesota, North Carolina, and Virginia. The jackpot is estimated to be $1.09 billion for the next drawing, making it the fourth-largest Powerball jackpot and the ninth-largest U.S. lottery jackpot. The Powerball last won on Jan. 1, 2024, by a ticket in Michigan that won a prize worth $842.4 million. Since then, there have been 39 drawings in a row without a jackpot winner. Powerball tickets are sold in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands.

In Monday’s drawing, the white balls 19, 24, 40, 42 and 56, as well as red Powerball 23, were drawn, with a 2x Power Play multiplier. A ticket worth $1 million in the Sunshine State, which matched the five white balls, was sold at Sedano’s Supermarket, 12981 South Orange Blossom Trail, in Orlando, WFLA reported.

Five other tickets that were also $1-million winners were sold, including two in Maryland and single tickets in Minnesota, North Carolina, and Virginia, according to a Powerball news release. There were also 53 tickets nationwide that won $50,000 prizes and 11 that won $100,000 prizes.

As of Tuesday morning, the jackpot is estimated to be $1.09 billion for the next drawing on Wednesday night. This makes it the fourth-largest Powerball jackpot and the ninth-largest U.S. lottery jackpot The Powerball jackpot was last won on Jan. 1, 2024, by a ticket in Michigan that won a prize worth $842.4 million. Since then, there have been 39 drawings in a row without a jackpot winner. Wednesday’s drawing will be the 40th drawing in the jackpot run.

Powerball tickets, which are sold in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, are $2 per play. Those in Florida have until 10 p.m. Eastern Standard Time to buy a ticket the night of the drawing.

Powerball drawings are broadcast live every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. EST from the Florida Lottery draw studio in Tallahassee. Powerball drawings are also live streamed on Powerball.com.
