Police say the man in his 20s was shot in the wrist and calf.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man was hospitalized Wednesday afternoon after he was pepper-sprayed and shot on Jacksonville's Westside while trying to buy earbuds in a "meeting" with someone, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

JSO's Sergeant Lloyd says officers responded to where the shooting occurred at 6500 Erma St. around 2 p.m. He says the man in his 20s was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries as he "suffered a gunshot wound to the wrist and calf."

Police say the man was with his brother at the time the meeting/shooting happened.

JSO says violent crimes and crime scene unit detectives were on scene, canvassing the area for witnesses and surveillance video, as the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
