Providence Day takes No. 1 in final girls soccer rankings for 2024; Asheville and Jacksonville among area code leaders

In the final girls soccer area code rankings, D.H. Conley is ranked first in the 252, Seaforth in the 919, Jacksonville in the 910, Western Alamance in the 336, Providence Day in the 704, and Asheville in the 828. Providence Day has been named the No. 1 team in the final HighSchoolOT statewide top 25 girls rankings for 2024, marking the first time the Chargers have been ranked. This comes after Providence Day won the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association 4A championship and ended the year undefeated with a 24-1-1 record. Jacksonville, the 3A champ, and Seaforth, the 2A champion, are second and third respectively. The only other state champion ranked was Christ the King (1A champ). In total, 15 teams from the preseason top 25 made the final statewide rankings, with Seaforth the highest-ranked team who was unranked at the outset. The full rankings are below.

For the first time, Providence Day is the No. 1 team in the final HighSchoolOT statewide top 25 girls rankings, taking the top spot in the final rankings after winning the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association 4A championship and ending the year with an 24-1-1 record.

The Chargers are just in front of three other state champion, all from the N.C. High School Athletic Association. Jacksonville, the 3A champ, is second, Seaforth, the 2A champ, is third, and Marvin Ridge, the 4A champ, is fourth.

The only other state champion that ended the year ranked was No. 17 Christ the King (1A champ), though NCISAA 3A champ Forsyth Country Day and NCISAA 1A champ Pungo Christian made area code top 15 rankings. NCISAA 2A champ Davidson Day just missed the 704 area code's top 15.

In total, 15 teams from the preseason top 25 made the final statewide rankings, with Seaforth the highest-ranked team who was unranked at the outset. Of the preseason top 10, six of them ended up ranked, but only two within the final top 10. Providence Day began the year ranked 12th. The preseason No. 1, Ashley, finished fifth.

The full final rankings — a statewide Top 25 and Top 15 rankings for each of the state’s six area codes — are below.

The HSOT all-state team will be released in the coming weeks.
